Soooo

.... I've been working on a little storefront site. It should be said that I am not a web designer. Not at all. But I have been able to navigate my way around Namo Web Editor enough to build a little site.

Its still under construction. And stuff. But because you are my friend..... I'll let you take a peek.

Be kind. I've got lots of work to do on it.

http://www.thefearlessknitter.com

My goal is to maybe someday build it to be selling point for other crafters out there (such as myself) to sell their wares. Because God knows I have a closet full of stuff I've made and I'm sure a lot of others do too. Shannon (those are her handmade bags) even suggested a page where we could sell our used craft books or magazines. Which sounds cool - I just have to work out the specifics. If you have something you'd like to list on the site - holler at me and we will work out something.

Anxiously awaiting your response.... be kind... I've had a rough day.

Alibi's and Simple Math

For all my ant slaying accomplices - hubby is picking up Terra (o?) and Borax tonight. If the police ask you anything, you say nothing. Nothing. Well except that you were with me the night of Friday, March 24th. And we were knitting. Or crochet if you prefer.

Definitely not ant slaying, Officer.

;)

Now, onto craft stuff!

What do you get when you mix one part:

plus one part

Eh?

Tadaaaaa

Purty huh?

Flower pins. I could not love these more. Bought the yarn on eBay, wasnt thrilled with it but then I crocheted up these lovelies.... and I want more!

Help.....

Seems that we have a ant problem in our new little house. A shitload of em'. Ok. Maybe not a shitload and I'm not really sure what exactly the measurements on a shitload would be but.... I'm pretty sure we have not reached that level.

Anyhoo. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I think they are coming in via a sliding glass door that leads to the deck. Tiny black ants. That bite.

I've tried a couple different sprays and we even bought yard stakes (with the ant repellant stuff) and the little oh-so-lovely boxes that supposedly offers the critters poison food to take back and wipe out the colony.

A mass murder if you will. Yet still.... they come back. Absolutely no food is in the area to attract and even in the kitchen we are putting everything into ziploc bags just to be safe.

Help?!

One Skein.

Have you seen the "One Skein" book by Leigh Radford? I bought the book via Amazon for a friend, took a peek at it (memorizing it all) and shipped er' off.

Oh.... how I love thee.

Leigh's version of a i-cordish rug.

Lovely eh.

Inspiring even.

I could do this.

Sure.

And who needs to follow the directions? I mean, make i-cord and tadaaa.

Easy peasy.

Or not. Pretty enough. But floppy. And I just read somewhere that you use a piping filler which I imagine adds to the thickness of the rug.

Damn.

Could be a big coaster. Really big. Or maybe a plant protector - you know to put your plants on so any drips are absorbed.

Lots of cute patterns in the book - for those of you who have not gotten to see it yet, here is a peek.

Ok. Back to bed for me. Fighting the crud. Crap weather going on. First day of Spring and its 30 degrees, rainy/sleet and we have a chance for snow. Oh. Joy. :)

Yeah Toast!!

Tried my hand at making french toast this morning..... warning.... graphic pics to follow.

Only one piece turned out reasonably edible.

Kind of.

The french toast adventure reminded me of Heywood Banks - who absolutely cracks me up.

Yeah Toast by Heywood Banks

All around the country and coast to coast
People always say what do you like most? I
don't wanna brag i don't wanna boast
so i just tell em i like toast

[Chorus] YEAH TOAST!! YEAH TOAST!!

I get up in the morning about 6 AM
had a little jelly had a little jam
take a piece of bread put it in the slot
push down the lever and the wires get hot
i get toast

[Chorus] YEAH TOAST!! YEAH TOAST!!

Now there's no secret to toasting perfection
there's a dial on the side and you make your selection
push to the dark or the light
and then if it pops too soon
press down again make toast

[Chorus] YEAH TOAST!! UH TOAST!!

When the first caveman drove in from the drags
didn't know what would go with the bacon and the eggs
musta bin a genius got it in his head
plug the toaster in the wall buy a bag of bread
make toast

[Chorus] YEAH TOAST!! UH OHH!

Oui monsuier bonjour coquette on hon croisoiant
on vous a vere morishe vour Eifel Towere
oui marie baguette bon soir

[Chorus] FRENCH TOAST!! FRENCH TOAST!!

In Chicago we're on the Bob and Tom show YEAH TOAST!! eh uh uh toast

I am sooo twelve years old.

Weds Stuff

Thank you all for your wonderful support with my sisters battle with breast cancer. She is home now and from what I hear, doing very well. I plan on calling her tonight which will be the first time I've talked to her for a while now. Her hubby has been keeping the family up-to-date on everything. She's in Alaska - we are in Kansas.

I've been super busy lately. I'm trying to get a storefront up and running. Just a small shop with some of my wares. I have a couple of friends who also are going to try their hand at selling in the shop too. Fun fun fun. Will post a link here when I get the shop going..... don't hold your breath though! Its hard work, especially for the computer/html challenged such as myself.

Have also been sitting here listening to my biological clock - this triggered it. Absolute cuteness. What age do you think is just too old for a woman to have a baby? I mean, really. Is it uncool to be a 60 something woman with a kid in college?

And do I really want you to answer that?

Made a couple online purchases this week. (notice my smooth attempt at a subject change) Want to see?

First stitch markers from Danielles wonderful Etsy shop.

Next is yarn from Susie's (i knew her back when....) Etsy shop.

No slobbering all over mine..... go on..... get your own!

For Rusty.....

My sister just went thru two surgeries in as many days. She found a lump in her breast only a few days ago and went in immediately to have a biopsy which turned out to be malignant. Its not been a great last few days for her as there is so much more to this story than I can share.

I'm reminded of how short life is and how absolutely awful I am at keeping in touch with those I love. Sending out a hug to you and yours tonight. So many of you have touched my life significantly this past year (or two!). You mean the world to me, all of you.

Now, go check your boobs. Its a sneaky little shit disease that must be ass kicked. Take care of yourself and if you get a minute say a little prayer for my sis.

See ya next week.

What are they thinking......

Doogie thinkin' dog thoughts.

"Other dogs get to stay outside all day and eat stuff. Why can't I? Why won't my Mom just give me the whole box of biscuits instead of only one tiny little bite? Why does my Dad (who is not as cheap with the biscuits and therefor my favorite human) have to leave everyday? Why can't I go with him. What does squirrel poop taste like? Why do I have to share a water dish with my sister? I want to go bye bye. Someday I'm gonna figure out how to jump on the table. Rabbits really want me to chase them despite what my Mom says. I am so not due a haircut, again despite what my Mom says. What did I do with my bouncy ball? I wonder if this pose is pitiful enough to get me another biscuit."

Sable thinkin' cat thoughts.

"Here birdy birdy. Thats right, come to mama. Mama likes birdy's. Oh yeah, you're a fat little birdy arent you. Here birdy, I want to be your friend. Really. Just a little closer."

Or something like that.

Monday Stuff

Look at what the wonderful Kim sent me!

Its the mutha of all Dr Pepper cans. And.... a cute pillow to boot. Is it not the cutest thing you've ever seen? Maybe 18 inches tall and filled with stuffing - never seen anything like it before. Our very first house warming gift that will grace my craft room forever!

Kim - thank you so much!

Knitting stuff.

One pair of socks I am working on right now. Well, rather one half of the pair of socks I'm working on. Can you guess the yarn brand?

Ok. That wasnt fair. But fun. Its actually yarn I dyed last week. I was going for bold blue and brown. As with all my yarn coloring adventures - it didnt turn out even remotely how I intended. I love it though - the striping is completely random and the colors don't pool. All good.

I have some other yarns that I dyed using an egg coloring kit I found at Walmart for all of 67 cents. Colors were pastel in the end result but I bet if I had used vinegar - it would of kicked it up a bit. Next time.... maybe.

Gossip

Did you see that Ms Purl has a Etsy store now?

The new Amazing Race starts tomorrow - no sugar coated families this time.

Did anyone catch Lost last week? I missed the episode - waaaa.

Susie is now selling her handspun on KnitPixie now!

House

Some pics of the new house. Because its completely taken over my life, mind and sanity.

The pup spying out the window, she hates the mailman. I mean, really hates the mailman. This is where she stands until the dirty rotten bastard (aka dude that wears the blue uniform, drives the white truck and touches our house every day) delivers our mail.

The new furniture. Ohhh ahhh.

Clutter. Gawd, the clutter. (see the red book with the torn edge? My MIL gave that to me, its a knitting book from before I was born. Wonderful!)

Hideous paint in the living room. Who paints their main area primer gray and dark red?

And proof that I've been knitting.

My version of Knitty's Flora scarf. And also the only thing I could manage for the Olympics. Doesnt compare to the knits I've seen so many of you finish - but at least I showed up for the games eh?

I'm also working on two (two I say) pairs of socks. Both are gifties and both are for gals who never recieved their socks in the SET exchange. Which is probably good for me as I swore off socks after the last pair I made. Never say never, eh.

Now - what have you been up to? And whoooo wants to come over and paint my living room? I'll make cookies. Have lots of Dr Pepper. You just let me know the date.

Ok.

Uh, Hello?
